Cervical Screening

What is cervical screening?

Cervical screening (smear test) is a free health test available on the NHS as part of the national cervical screening programme. It helps prevent cervical cancer by checking for a virus called high-risk HPV and cervical cell changes. It is not a test for cancer. If you have symptoms, contact your the surgery about having an examination.

It is your choice whether to go for cervical screening.

Please see the following links to some short videos which we hope will encourage you to attend for your smear test when your are invited. For more information you can also visit Jo’s Trust Cervical Cancer Charity.
